The Parking Lot Drama That Made My Heart Race
This happened at a Coop supermarket parking lot. I found a spot that was as close to the entrance as possible and very convenient to park in. There were four parking spaces available: in the leftmost space, a car door was wide open; the next two spaces were empty; and the rightmost space was occupied by a parked car. Naturally, instead of parking right next to the car with the open door, I chose the space next to that one. I figured since the space to my left was empty, it would be much easier for me to get out of my car.

However, right after I parked and was about to get out, a woman who was in the car to my right confronted me. She asked why, out of all the empty spaces in the lot, I chose to park right next to her. She then opened her driver’s side door, showed me that it couldn’t open all the way, and said, “Seriously?”

I took a look at how she had parked. It turned out her front driver-side wheel was actually over the line, invading my space. Yet, she was the one complaining that she couldn’t get out! I told her, “I’ll move my car so you can get out, but I hope you stay parked exactly like that—so you get a parking ticket.” Then, I went and parked somewhere else.
When I finished shopping and came back out, I saw that she had moved her car forward and was standing outside next to it. I was still so furious that I flipped her off as I drove by.

I’m really not the type of person who swears or flips people off, so doing that made my heart start pounding like crazy. But I told myself not to feel guilty about it—she was the one who acted completely rude. I tried to calm my racing heart down.
Did she see me flip her off? She absolutely did. She immediately put both hands on her hips and just stared at me and my car as I drove away. Did I do something wrong? Should I have just held it in?
